Four Corners has long been one of our favorite brain breaks because it gets kids up and out of their seats, and it is also super fun!

Here is how to play:

1. One person is chosen to be the caller. They can stand at the front of the classroom.
2. The caller will close/cover their eyes and counts backwards from ten to zero (not too slow or fast). While the caller is counting, everyone in the game must walk carefully to one of the four corners in your classroom.
3. When the caller gets to “zero” (before opening their eyes), they call out one of the corners. They can then open their eyes. Everyone who was in that corner is “out” and sits back down at their desk until the game has ended.
4. The game continues for a total of four rounds. The fourth round is the FINAL round. Usually, we have the caller choose THREE corners on the last round, and anyone left standing in the one corner not called is the GRAND WINNER. If there is no one left in that corner, then the caller is technically the winner.

I am a huge stickler with the following rules:

• Everyone must walk across the room. (Unless you are in a gym or other safe area where running would be ok.)
• We play in complete silence, often because I really enjoy the silence and so do some of the other students.
• No switching corners at the last second.
